A little about the Hovawart

A powerfully built dog, the Hovawart makes a courageous and alert watchdog. Whilst these tendencies can make them wary of strangers, they are incredibly affectionate to their family. However, they can have a stubborn streak and benefit from early socialisation and training.

The Hovawart may be predisposed to the following health conditions: Dilated Cardiomyopathy, Osteochondritis Dissecans, Hypothyroidism, Gastric Torsion (bloat) and Canine Hip Dysplasia.
